A PLEA FOR A SAVIOUR: ODOH E. JUSTUS

Behold our political gladiators
who would save us from their clutch of greed?

They wanted power by all means
and brought the slogan of change.

They fought their way through lies and deceit
and obtained power at the center

Intoxicated by power
Blinded by their personnel ambition
unprepared to govern
They fought like a child
and brought shame instead of change

They never care for the populace
They only care for themselves

The path to honour they know not
but to wealth inexustibile

The people yearn
Who shall salvage us from these wolves in ship clothing
Tarry not for too long
Come forth with a rod
Least our vision be cut short.

A poem written when the Nigerian parliamentarians made up of the All Progressive Congress were busy fighting each other on who gets what in the upper and lower chamber of the house.
